Our clients commissioned us to create a luxurious but elegant movie room within the basement of a period property, to include the lighting, AV design and the interiors.
The brief was to create a room intimate enough for a couple to watch a movie, while also being large enough to accommodate groups for major sporting events.
We tackled this by creating two distinct, yet cohesive areas, the first incorporating cinema seating in a bespoke leather, which combined supreme comfort and the latest technology, including massage functions. The second included a bespoke sofa, in a ‘U’ configuration, with large chaise ends, to comfortably seat the whole family and provide the space to fully recline.
We wanted it to feel luxurious and contemporary, like the best upmarket cinemas, so paired tactile velvets with deep pile wool carpets and bespoke, decorative acoustic panels to help enhance the viewing experience while also providing a striking feature.
The room was designed to avoid the cliché of overtly-masculine cinema rooms in dark colours, and the result sits comfortably with the sophisticated and elegant interiors of the rest of the house.
