Bruton Bolthole

A characterful and colourful escape in the heart of the Somerset countryside

With so many interesting features to play to – double height ceilings in the living space, a mezzanine bedroom with pitched roof and myriad original details – we celebrated the property’s eccentricities with focal point tiling, neutral backdrops layered with colour and texture and a considered use of light. The resulting feel is wonderfully light and bright during the day and soft and cosy after dark.

Having previously worked with the client on their main house, we were tasked with converting an existing stone outbuilding on the grounds into guest accommodation.

We worked with John Yerbury Property Developments to create a scheme that reflected the relaxed yet glamorous country aesthetic in the main house. Mixing rich velvets in warm rust colour tones with natural materials, such as living edge tables, and linens.

Traditional country style is elevated with enlivening colour and fabrics, contemporary art and furniture pieces. We were also keen to showcase our client’s love of music, introducing a music area complete with album art and turntable. Guests are encouraged to fix themselves a drink and relax with their favourite tunes.
