Our clients were looking for a contemporary outside space that reflected the style of their adjoining garden room, but that was also sympathetic to the barn’s historic features and more traditional rural surrounds.
While an extension of the garden room in many ways – as well as a link between inside and out – it was also to be a ‘room’ in itself that provided an additional dining space, particularly when family were visiting.
Planting of soft greys and purples reflect fabrics and finishes, and a copper water fountain provides a relaxing focal point that can be enjoyed from both inside and out, even in the evening when carefully placed uplights extend the interest well into the darker hours.
