Urban Oasis

A tranquil city courtyard mixing traditional and modern design in historic Bath

Natural stone, herringbone pavers, gravel for a touch softness and terracotta planters create defined areas of interest within the space while also working together as a whole.

Previously overgrown, with very little space to relax, the brief was to transform this city courtyard garden in Bath into a serene oasis.

Blending contemporary and traditional styles to create lounging and dining areas, we used materials sympathetic to the age and style of the Grade II listed villa.

A focal point water feature can be enjoyed from the conservatory and provides welcome ambient noise to counter city life beyond the walls.

Multistem amelanchier and prunus trees add height and year-round interest, underplanted with an array of herbaceous perennials in soft blues, pinks and whites.
