A sensitively modernised period family home

We worked across the ground floor of the property and the master suite, the scale of which was extraordinary. Here, we designed and commissioned bespoke pieces to help ensure they had the right scale in the space, often opting to ‘over-size’ to ensure such a large area felt warm and inviting.

We recently worked alongside architects Nash Partnership and contractors GEM Solutions to renovate this beautiful family home.

As a young family, our clients were looking to modernise the property to make it work better for them and their lifestyle, albeit with sensitivity to the character and status of the period building.

They were keen to take ownership of the house too, ensuring that some of the more formal spaces felt more relaxed and accessible.

In the drawing room, of similar proportion, a reading nook was introduced, accompanied by warming layers of texture and pattern. Here, the window treatments, upholstery and soft furnishings were chosen to reflect the grounds beyond, with autumnal rusts, ochres and green hues. Larger scale furniture was introduced too, with inviting, classically shaped sofas off-set by more contemporary pieces.
