Mixing modernity with classic Georgian style at a new hilltop home in Bath
The original gardens were very sloped, with lots of small, unusable areas. We set to rectify this by creating a large level lawn for the children and introduced Bath-stone-faced gabion baskets, with planting trailing both up and down to further soften the elevations.
We were commissioned to work across the interior and gardens of this new family home with spectacular southerly views over the city of Bath. Traditional in style, in keeping with neighbouring Georgian properties, but with a contemporary feel suited to 21st-century family life, the owners were after a garden to reflect the house.
We designed the dining terrace to echo the property’s sinuous curves and used large-format Egyptian limestone paving to link through to the adjoining living space.
Traditional English planting mixed with Mediterranean varietals and ornamental grasses were chosen to mirror the style and colours of the interiors.
