With spectacular southerly views over the city of Bath, the original gardens of this hilltop property were very sloped, with lots of small, unusable areas. Woodhouse and Law worked across both the interior and gardens of the new family home built on this plot. Traditional in style, in keeping with the neighbouring Georgian properties, but with a contemporary feel suited to 21st-century family life, the owners were after a garden to reflect the house.
A large level lawn for the kids was created with the introduction of Bath-stone-faced gabion baskets, with planting trailing both up and down to further soften the elevations. We created the dining terrace to echo the property’s sinuous curves and used large-format Egyptian limestone paving to link through to the adjoining living space.
Similarly, traditional English planting mixed with Mediterranean counterparts and ornamental grasses were chosen to reflect the style and colours of the interiors.
