With the wonderful summer we’ve just had, Nick’s mind has been turning to the Mediterranean for a bit of inspiration for our garden designs right here in Bath. A slightly different approach to garden design from those sunnier climes but achievable with the right materials, and the right balance of form, structure and texture. Think terracotta, dappled shade to protect you from the midday sun, and drifts of hardy, scented rosemary. For more information, head to the latest issue of Bath Life, out today.
As part of our ongoing commitment to help the wonderful community we live and work in, it was great to see works start in approving the allotment facilities at Greenlinks on Monkton Road this week. Earlier this year, we added £1000 to the money so kindly donated by our wonderful clients and this is going into providing easier access to the allotment, run by Bath Mind. A new set of steps and accompanying handrail are currently being installed by the team at Selby Landscapes, who will also be improving the seating area there. We hope this will be enjoyed for years to come.
We’ve recently designed the interiors of a lateral conversion in the heart of the city, which included lighting and electrics, spatial planning, furniture, colour schemes and decorative lighting throughout. The clients were thrilled with their new luxury pied-à-terre and you can get more of a sneak peek coming soon to ‘our work’ section of the website.
We are keen to ensure that the wealth of local talent we have here is nurtured and given as much opportunity to grow and develop as possible. So it was with great pleasure that Nick spent an afternoon yesterday with the garden design students at the renowned Cotswold Gardening School, giving them advice on setting up their own business in the ever-changing design industry.
And what exciting talent there is out there! Nick’s very much looking to returning next year to help the next wave of designers find their feet and flourish.
Nick and Fiona are heading to RHS Chelsea Flower Show this week to soak up the award-winning gardens and multi-sensory experience, and sunshine!
You can follow along on our Twitter feed to see latest trends and eye-catching finds direct from the show. Nick will also be reporting back on a group of Bath-based companies with their own stand at the show in his next Bath Life magazine column.
If you’re thinking about a Woodhouse & Law planting scheme but not entirely confident in your ability for aftercare, we’re now offering a bespoke garden maintenance schedule in conjunction with Shoot Gardening. Each month, you’ll receive an email reminder with a personalised care calendar for every plant in your garden to include tips on everything from pruning to training, propagating, fertilising, lawn care and, of course, all-important watering.
We like to think of it as gardening by numbers, so whatever your green-fingered credentials you can have a garden to be proud of.
It’s Nick’s favourite time of year – tulip season! And in honour of the not-so-humble tulip, Nick’s latest Bath Life garden column is all about this showy bulb.
In his research, Nick found out that the tulip is a symbol of international friendship to the city of Bath. To find out more, click here to read the article.
We’ve recently completed a roof terrace and interiors scheme on The Circus, inspired by the client’s time in Asia, and specifically Singapore. As such, the roof terrace has taken on a decidedly tropical feel, with plants chosen to echo the lush, large evergreen foliage commonplace in the tropics, while obviously being able to survive the considerably colder climate we’re used to here in the UK. We added vivid blues and oranges to the seating areas, to contrast the dark timber finish of the flooring and furniture, resulting in a holiday feel, right here in the heart of Bath.
We’ve also fully renovated the interiors to a similar bold theme, taking our cue from Asia and pop art. You can look out for more pictures coming soon to ‘our work’ section of the website.
