Gemma Luteijn joined us on a work placement earlier this month, as part of her ongoing studies at Loughborough University. A second-year multimedia textiles student, Gemma will be interning with us until next summer and working across a number of ongoing projects to learn more about the interior design process and how we work. She also makes beautiful polymer clay accessories in her spare time, so if you’re in need of a pick-me-up, you can have a little browse of her Etsy shop.
Our product of the month is this ginger jar, currently on display in the showroom window along with a range of blue and white glazed ceramics, from bowls to tea boxes and more ginger jars in a range of motifs from the oriental to the Art Deco. Originally used for storing and transporting spices in ancient China, these days their purpose is more as decorative objets d’art, and if you’re yet to start your own collection, grouped together on a mantel or shelf, we think this particular piece is the perfect place to start.
