Biophilia rules

Biophilia rules

Woodhouse and Law March 28th, 2020 News & Ideas

As editor of Bath Magazine Emma Clegg explains, biophilia is not just a trend, it’s a conviction.

Based on the belief that humans possess an innate tendency to seek connections with nature and other forms of life, it’s not surprising that biophilia is becoming an integral part of our homes in these unusual times. With that in mind, this month’s Interiors Notebook tells us where we can find the perfect pieces throughout the city, for those of us in need of embracing those connections within our own four walls.

We were very honoured to see some of our beautiful earthenware vases featured. For the full lowdown of all things Biophilia, head to the April issue of Bath Magazine now.

Spring Interiors

Woodhouse and Law March 27th, 2020 News & Ideas

Bath Life’s Spring Interiors issue is out today and it’s packed full of plenty of design advice from experts throughout the city. One of whom it our very own John, who was asked for his latest interior design trends.

Here, John explains his loving for the recent trend towards mixing old with new. “We always try to reflect a client’s personality and individuality on any scheme we work on, taking inspiration from their very personal pieces; perhaps a piece of artwork, or even old radio or record player. It’s always much more fun when there is a story behind each piece and we’ll often layer these up with additional accessories, both new and old, that compliment and reflect their own style.  These might be antique pieces for example, offering a more sustainable approach to design, with timeless pieces that can stay with the client for years or even generations ahead.”

Follow the tribe

Follow the tribe

Woodhouse and Law March 20th, 2020 News & Ideas

If you’ve wandered – or indeed driven – past our window on Bathwick Hill recently, you might have noticed we’ve fallen for the tribal theme.

We’ve been mixing plenty of colour and pattern courtesy of La Maison Pierre Frey’s wall coverings, which we’ve mixed with some beautiful ethnic masks, ornamental necklaces and objets d’art which would add plenty of unique character to any interior scheme.

Woodhouse and Law March 13th, 2020 News & Ideas

This year sees the 40th anniversary of the purchase of Tetbury’s Highgrove estate by The Duchy of Cornwall. Then home to Maurice Macmillan, son of former Prime Minister Harold Macmillan, the gardens of this Georgian neo-classical house were a blank canvas for their new tenant for life, HRH The Prince of Wales. The former kitchen garden had become overlooked, a once tended copse forgotten, hollow oaks standing defiantly as a reminder of better days.

Fortunately, as Nick explains in his latest garden design article for Bath Life, the gardens we see today offer a very different picture; a series of outdoor rooms, each very distinct, each telling its own unique story. Pick up the latest copy of Bath Life, out today, to find out more about these very special gardens. Or for those of you wanting an instant horticultural fix, click away right  here.

Our product of the month

Our product of the month

Woodhouse and Law March 1st, 2020 News & Ideas

Our product of the month is these handmade porcelain canvases from Italy, each with a different design, which are now hanging in our showroom.

There are various colours and themes available from abstract art to portraits and pieces inspired by nature, that would look great on their own or as part of a bigger collection.

Measuring 25 x 25cm, they’re £79 for each bespoke piece.
