As part of our ongoing commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, we work closely with Bath-based arts and crafts charity Articulate in giving our discontinued fabric books and remnants a new lease of life.
It was lovely to get an update from Karen Woodfield at Articulate recently.
“The fabric supplies have allowed members to continue to develop their skills after the workshop. We have distributed the fabric to other not for profit or educational organisations including local schools for their textile departments, an after-school group, crafts groups for the elderly and for adults with learning difficulties. We have also been able to support a member who is studying textile degree, who has then taught at our club. We also have a disabled young member who is using the fabric to help her with developing her skills and a portfolio in preparation for applying to study costume design. We have another member who makes costumes for a local community theatre group who is using the fabric. Lastly, Ralph Allen School is starting teaching GCSE Textiles in 2019 and a significant proportion of the fabric from your last donation will form the basis of their textile collection for the students to use. “
It was great to see some of the results recently; from coasters to bags, the results were really inspiring. Keep up the good work Articulate!
